Motivational Speaking

After becoming paralyzed in 1998 and losing
the use of my legs, I also lost a lot of self-
esteem. Word’s can’t describe the emotions you
go through at a time like this. Being paralyzed
was the toughest obstacle I’ve ever had to face
in my life and I had no idea how I was going
make it through. But through faith in God, and
a never quit attitude, I just took it day by day.
Even though there were times when I just wanted
to give up and throw the towel in, I kept pressing
on in faith, believing in the promises of God that
it would get better. That is where I drew all my
strength. I tried to always keep a positive attitude
knowing that as bad as things seemed, it could
always be worse. I had to take a step back and
look at all the positive things in my life as
apposed to the negatives and I discovered
I had so much to be thankful for. If you look at what you do not have in life, you don't have anything. If you look at what you do have in life, you have everything.
My vision is to make a difference in this world. I want to reach out to others who may be facing the same or similar situations as my self and to encourage them to never give up or lose hope. I want to share my story of hope and faith and use all the adversities I’ve had to face in my life along with all the accomplishments that came as a result of persevering through the hard times and keeping my mind set on positive things, always with a vision and a hope for a better and brighter future. If you can see it, you can be it. I want them see that no matter what the circumstances you can overcome them and achieve just about anything you set your mind to. It’s up to you to decide which road you want to take.
I have been involved with a program at Magee Rehab called “Think First” where we have gone to high schools and used our situations as an example to teach kids to “think first” before making decisions that could change their life forever. A lot of kids tend to make decisions before really thinking about the consequences. Hopefully they see the reality behind the message and it causes them to “think first” the next time they are faced to make a decision.
